Evaluation findings - June 2025

With a vision to encourage and incorporate the use of arts, creativity, and complementary therapies within the services provided across the Northern Care Alliance, the volunteering team introduced two new volunteer programmes – Arts in Health and Complementary Therapies. These programmes aimed to have a positive impact on service users and colleagues physical, mental and emotional recovery or wellbeing.

In January 2023, Helpforce Insight and Impact team partnered with NCA to evaluate these two initiatives. The findings below detail the final analysis of the Complementary Therapies service, completed in June 2025. This service provided various treatments to staff across their trusts four health care organisations. The treatments were provided by a small number of volunteers, and also a number of staff members who volunteered their time to give back to the trust and their colleagues.
